The Loire Valley is a beautiful and amazing place to explore. Within one hours drive there are literally dozens of châteaux, many of which feature 'son et lumière' spectacles and hundreds of vineyards producing the wines of Anjou and Touraine, including Muscadet, Saumur Champigny, Bourgueil and Chinon. Whether you prefer red wines, rose or sparkling there are free wine tastings at almost all vineyards.

Course fishing is extremely popular in the nearby rivers, including the Loire itself. The river Authion, a tributary of the Loire, is a 15 minute walk from the house, and is a popular local fishing spot. Most fished for are pike, carp, bream and sandre. The local angling shop at Longué can provide all necessary equipment, bait and advice.
